Margie Hunter

My name is Margaret Hunter when I was 9 years old I saved up my birthday and allowance money to buy my first 35mm film camera.  I took pictures of absolutely everything and developed an eye for photography.  When I was 10 years old I began to compete in tournament archery and began to love the outdoors.  My dad taught me how to identify plants and a deep appreciation of nature developed in me.  I realized that what I wanted more than anything was to help protect and preserve the beauty of nature.  So I decided to pursue environmental engineering in college.  After graduating from Rowan University in 2002 I won first place in a photography contest held by the American Society of Civil Engineers Environmental Water Resources Institute.  Ever since college I have been driven by my eye for photography, my training in engineering and my passion for the environment.  My goal is to inspire others to have the same appreciation for nature that I do and ultimately create awareness to the basic things that people can do to protect it.

About The Artist

Lise Grossman is a member of the Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown and participates in classes and activities at Perkins. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Fine Arts Studio and Art History from Kean University. Her works have been shown at the Perkins Center for the Arts in Moorestown, at the Center for the Arts in Southern New Jersey in Marlton, and are for sale at the N.K. Thaine Gallery in Haddonfield.

Lise teaches special needs students, who are often visual learners, as an instructional associate and as a home therapist. She is also certified to teach art.

This artist genuinely appreciates the subtle balances and harmonies which exist in nature. She finds them to be simple and beautiful, as well as a microcosm for reflecting upon our own human lives.

“Choral Reef” is a watercolor painting which reflects the colorful harmonies (hence the musical spelling of “coral”) of the tropical underwater world. Such harmonies exist all over our world, but are emphasized in nature by the vivid colors, textures, and life in tropical waters.

“Floral Reef” is at first glance, perhaps, a floral still life. As one is drawn closer, camouflaged fish emerge into the scene and it is apparent that one is viewing them among a flowering of corals. The diversity of the corals is intriguing. We may reflect upon the analogous nature of our own environment to that of the vibrant, balanced one beneath our waters.

These fine quality giclee prints of original watercolor paintings by Lise have been artistically replicated on heavyweight watercolor paper by Sagemore Gallery in Ocean City. The prints may be purchased at the special price of $165 each, framed. They are excellent gifts or may be purchased to enhance your own home or business environment. Order prints from the artist at (609) 828-0091. The framed print is generally available within one week, and in many cases, may be available immediately. Enjoy.
